Inurnment will follow at 4 p.m. at Lakeview Cemetery, Kenmare, ND. LeOtis was born to Dale and Ruth (Moen) Olney, March 30, 1940 at Kenmare, ND. He was raised on the family farm 11 miles east of Northgate until 1949, when the family moved to the Hugh McGillivary farm at Northgate, remaining there until 1957, when they sold the cattle and farm equipment and moved to Kenmare. LeOtis stayed with LeRoy and Marlene Heth in Flaxton, finishing high school there and graduating with the Class of 1958. After high school, LeOtis worked for his uncle Clair Olney custom combining and trucking; as well as working for other area farmers. . He married Carol Lee (Skarphol) Reistad on June 11, 1980 in Lignite where they lived and LeOtis engaged in the service and bulk fuel business working with Westland Oil Co., Behm family Corporation, Conoco, Farstad Oil and Sinclair. In 1986, LeOtis and Carol incorporated and became Wheatland Oil Company Inc. In 1986, LeOtis purchased the former Country Boy and it became known as WO Truck Stop – North Star Café, operating it until 1996. Wheatland hauled its own products from area terminals, also offering bulk loads to farmers and oil rigs until December of 2015. He enjoyed the many good times visiting with family, friends and customers at Wheatland Oil over the years. In 2016, due to ill health, LeOtis retired and sold his business of almost 50 years. LeOtis served many years on the Lignite City Council, Christ Lutheran Church Council, the Lignite Economic Development Corporation, and he was a strong supporter of his community, 4_H and the Lignite Community Center. LeOtis has a love for classic cars and older vehicles which had him entering many car shows and parades. LeOtis and Carol shared a love of country music and NASCAR Cup series racing. They traveled to Nashville, Tennessee, to several NASCAR tracks throughout the U.S., and attended many area country music concerts through the years. They also enjoyed meeting fellow businessmen at many ND Petroleum Marketers Association conventions and tire shows across the state. Those sharing in his life: LeOtis is survived by his loving wife Carol, Lignite; children LuAnn (Craig) Renner, Alamo, ND; Leon Olney, Minot, ND; Lynnette (Jeff) Weltikol, and Linda Olney, Williston, ND; stepsons: Ryan (Stephanie) Reistad, McGregor, ND; Russel Reistad, Carthage, Texas; stepdaughter: Cheryl (Michael) Milne, Westminster, Colorado; grandchildren:Kyle (Alissa) Renner, Erika (Doug) Wurtsbaugh, Morgan Faldalen, Stacy (Kevin) Craft, Stephanie Olney, Derek Olney, Chad (Brittany) Baumann, Corey (Sarah) Baumann, Cole (Lindsay) Weltikol, Layne Lucy, Victoria Erickson, Jacob Reistad, Alexander Milne, and Bailey Reistad as well as numerous great grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews. LeOtis was preceded in death by parents; grandson Cody Olney; infant brother, grandson, Daniel Baumann, grandson-in-law Lucas Faldalen, and nephew Trevor Skarphol. Stakston-Martin funeral Home, Crosby is in charge of the arrangements.
