Description	:	LeRoy Anton James Kappel passed away on Oct. 11, 2014, at his home in Park City. He was 76. LeRoy was the second son born to Joseph and Eva (Yurian) Kappel in Park City, on July 12, 1938. He attended Trewin School through his grade school years, then attended Park City High School, graduating in 1957. At a young age, he loved to listen to his dad and his brother George play the accordion, so he taught himself to play and at the age of 14, he recorded a record. He continued to play for the next 60 years, entertaining family... Read More	LeRoy Anton James Kappel passed away on Oct. 11, 2014, at his home in Park City. He was 76. LeRoy was the second son born to Joseph and Eva (Yurian) Kappel in Park City, on July 12, 1938. He attended Trewin School through his grade school years, then attended Park City High School, graduating in 1957. At a young age, he loved to listen to his dad and his brother George play the accordion, so he taught himself to play and at the age of 14, he recorded a record. He continued to play for the next 60 years, entertaining family and friends. Shortly after graduation, he served in the Navy. He worked on oil tankers and traveled to Japan in the two years he was in the service. He married Norma Roth on April 23, 1960, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Laurel. He worked for the City of Billings at the water plant and when his father passed away, he moved his family to Park City in 1973 to continue to work the family farm. Leroy loved being outside farming, hunting, fishing and gardening. He enjoyed Sunday dinners and the holidays with his children and grandchildren. He also loved his German heritage which included making traditional German food and being a part of the Enzian Schuphplattler Verein dance group. Leroy is survived by his wife of 54 years, Norma Kappel; his children, Paul (Lorelle) Kappel, Amy (Kevin) Budge, Janice Kappel and Josh Stagg, who he considered his son; his seven grandchildren, Brad Peters, Christian Kappel, Taylor Kappel, Derek Budge, Sean Budge, Lexi Budge and Aaron Reichenberg; his brothers George (Gloria) Kappel and Marvin (Kay) Kappel along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Eva Kappel, his brother Alvin Kappel, and several aunts and uncles. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 18, at St. .John's Lutheran Church, 417 W. 9th Street, Laurel, MT, with the reception to follow. The burial will be at the Park City Cemetery. Donations in Leroy’s name can be made to the American Cancer Society or charity of choice. Smith Funeral Chapel-Laurel assisted the family with arrangements.
