Burial will follow in Goff Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 2 PM to 8 PM and Sunday 11 AM until service time at the funeral home. A complete obituary will post later this afternoon after the family has finalized all arrangements. ======================================== SMITHVILLE — Funeral services for Leroy Goff, age 89, of Smithville will be held 1 p.m., Sunday, November 15th, 2015, in the chapel of Presley Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Moore officiating. Interment will follow in Goff Cemetery on the Goff Ridge. The family will receive friends Saturday, from 2-8 p.m., and again Sunday, from 11 a.m. until time of services at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Goff passed away Friday, November 13, 2015, at his home in Smithville, Tennessee. He was born on Monday, January 25, 1926 in DeKalb County, Tennessee, to the late McRoy Goff and Ovella Rachel Lafever Goff. Mr. Goff's greatest accomplishment was raising ten children. He loved to fish and had a great sense of humor. He was mechanically inclined and loved to tinker. He volunteered at age 17 to serve his country and fellow countrymen in the United States Army, during World War II, receiving three medals; Good Conduct, World War II Victory, and the American Theater Ribbon, while serving in Australia (He and all five of his brothers served in different branches at the same time). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Goff; two great-grandsons, James Raymond Goff and Dillon Goff; three sisters, Margie Herron, Beatrice Hickey, Gladys Strickland; five brothers, Ben Goff, Beecher Goff, Buster Goff, Orby Goff, and Wilburn Goff. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Rice Goff; four sons, Gary (Charlene) Goff of Smithville, Tennessee, Mike Goff, of Smithville, Tennessee, Dale (Marilyn) Goff, of Baxter, Tennessee and Danny (Johnna) Goff, of Smithville, Tennessee; five daughters, Chris (Jim) Moore, of Cookeville, Gay Lafever, of Cookeville, Pam (Calvin) Lankford, of Smithville, Tennessee, Lesia (Richard) Young of Smithville, Tennessee, and Robin Beckham of Cookeville; eleven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be James Robert Goff, J.J. Beckham, Chase Beckham, Jesse Tollett, Nicholas Goff, Chris Young, Wesley Goff, Johnathon Goff, Braxton Lafever, Kris Jared. The family would like to express their gratitude to Caris Hospice and staff, for the last six months of care and support they have provided the Goff family.
