Description	:	Funeral services for LeRoy Cranston, 83, were held at Christensen Funeral Home in Ida Grove at 2:30 Thursday afternoon, August 15. Mr. Cranston died in the Ida Grove hospital Monday, August 12 after several months illness with cancer. The last five weeks were spent in the hospital. The Rev. Ernest Martin, minister of the Methodist church in Ida Grove officiated. Mrs. Audrey Lockner was vocalist and Mrs. Ronald Courtwright, organist. Burial was in the Odebolt cemetery with Masonic rites. Cranston, was born January 30, 1880 at Odebolt, Iowa. He received his education in the Odebolt schools and attended the Institute at Sac City two years. He was married to Della Gray of Odebolt December 2, 1903. They had three children, Alice, who died in infancy; Ethel Helen, who died at the age of four years, and James Lewis of Ida Grove. They farmed in the Odebolt vicinity, later moving to Huron SD. where they farmed for 24 years, returning to this vicinity in 1935. After the death of his wife in 1939 he made his home with his son, James and family at Odebolt, later with them at their present location near Ida Grove. He was a member of the First Presbyterian church of Odebolt, and Wheeler Masonic Lodge also of Odebolt. Survivors include his son James, three grandchildren, Franklin of Marengo, Richard of Washington, D.C., and Helen, Mrs. Raymond Johnson of Holstein; and three great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers, A.P. Cranston and J.R. Cranston of Odebolt; Leslie Cranston of Washington; two sisters, Ethel David of Lakeville, Minn., and Ella Frevert of Big Stone City, S.D. Out of town relatives present for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Cranston and two boys of Sioux Rapids, and Mr. and Mrs. George A. Holland of Lenox.
