Description	:	LeRoy Melvin Noem was born September 13, 1931 to Oscar & Mattie (Christensen) Noem in rural Erwin, SD. He calmly passed from this earth on July 4, 2016 while under the care of family and staff of the Parkview Care Center in Bryant, SD. Funeral Services will be Saturday, July 9th, 2016 at Our Redeemer Lutheran church at 11:00 AM, Bryant, SD with Pastor Bryan Taffe officiating. LeRoy was baptized into the Lutheran faith at East Bethany Lutheran Church. He attended country schools in Kingsbury and Hamlin counties until his freshman year. After leaving school, LeRoy worked at Parkers Gas Station in Bryant. While in Bryant, he set up a date with a high school girl that caught his eye. LeRoy purchased a couple cane poles and took Rozella fishing on their first date. That event set a path for much of their time together. In the spring of 1950, LeRoy started his farming career that was interrupted by a severe hail storm. In October of 1950 he volunteered to join in the US Army, served in the Korean War, receiving an honorable discharge in September 1952, he then resumed his life-long passion of farming. LeRoy farmed in Cleveland Township, retired in 2000, and continued to help on the farm until 2012. On June 7, 1953 he married Rozella Fedt at Garfield Lutheran church. They resided in Cleveland Township until June of 1992, when they moved to Bryant. In January of 2015 they moved to Watertown and resided until the time of his death. LeRoy served on various Township, city council, church and school boards. He was very proud of his service in the US Army and was a lifetime member of the VFW and the American Legion. He was past commander of Bryant Post 37 and named District Legionnaire of the year in 2006. While serving on the Bryant city council he was very instrumental in the construction of the “Welcome to Bryant” flower planter at the Bryant City Park. LeRoy’s hobbies included his beautiful flower gardens, hunting and fishing. The place he loved the most was the Missouri river. He & Rozella used a camper for many years at South Whitlock Resort until 2000 when they purchased their first trailer. Countless trips with friends, kids and grandkids were made throughout the years. He was preceded in death by his Parents Oscar and Mattie Noem, Mother and Father in law Elva and Marvin Fedt, bothers Clifford & his wife Betty and Orville Noem, Bother in law Dale Rasmussen and a Grandson Shaune Noem. The family would like to suggest memorials be directed to our redeemer Lutheran Church in Bryant as an alternative to other memorials.
