Rozella Harriett (Fedt) Noem, age 86, passed away at Jenkins Nursing Home in Watertown, SD on Monday, March 16, 2020. She was born on November 18, 1933 to Marvin and Elva (Anderson) Fedt at the farm near Hayti, SD. She grew up on farms near Hayti and Bryant and attended country grade schools. Rozella attended high school in Bryant, graduating in 1951 and was especially proud of being a Bryant Scottie. On June 7, 1953, she was united in marriage to her lifelong fishing, dancing and travel partner, LeRoy,at Garfield Lutheran Church near Bryant, SD. While in high school, Rozella lived at different boarding houses in Bryant. After graduation, she worked for 2 years at the Bryant State Bank. After marriage, the couple moved close to her childhood home in Cleveland Township and began farming. Farming was central to the lives of LeRoy and Rozella. They saw it as a way of life, and the best place to raise their family of 4. In 1959, the couple took the biggest step of their lives, and purchased the farm just up the road from the one they had rented from Rozella’s aunt and uncle for several years. Rozella played a critical role in the support of the farming operation. There was no doubt the couple partnered in the business and way of life. Every dollar was accounted for by the former bank teller. Spiral bound notebooks and other various documents tell the tale of how they conducted both business and pleasure, down to penny detail of the approximately $60 spent while on the honeymoon to the Black Hills. Rozella was very active in service and social organizations including American Legion Auxiliary, the baseball concession stand, many church circles and ladies aid organizations, Red Hats Society, and the Board of Directors for the Parkview Care Center. Rozella’s hobbies included bowling, especially going to various tournaments. One particularly proud moment was when she placed in a national tournament in 2004. Of course, other hobbies included the travel, fishing and camping. She was so happy for having shared her life with her late husband of 61 years and love of her life, LeRoy and talked often of being with him in heaven. Also grateful for having shared her life are her children Douglas (Kathy) Noem of Bryant, Gene (Jennifer) Noem of Ames, Iowa and Wayne (Laurie) Noem of Bryant, Cindy (David) Larson of Erwin; 12 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, one soon to arrive greatgreat grandchild; sister Shirley Ann Rasmussen, sister in law June Noem and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. Some very special people that preceded Rozella in death include her parents, her beloved husband LeRoy, a very special grandchild Shaune Noem. A private family Service honoring Rozella will be held at the Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Bryant, SD, Friday, March 20, 2020, with Minister Colin Beveridge, for family ONLY, at 11:00 AM. Burial will be at the Garfield Lutheran cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Rozella’s name to the Garfield Cemetery Association or Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Bryant. - Osthus Funeral Home
