OBITUARY: Roy Springer LeRoy M. Springer, the son of Joseph and Emma (Eicher) Springer, was born on a farm southwest of Aurora, Nebraska, on August 16, 1907, and passed away at his home in Aurora, on December 24, 1989, at the age of 82 years, 4 months, and 8 days. He grew up and lived on Cedar Lawn Farm, for 81 years, and in November of 1988, he retired and moved into Aurora. On June 5, 1941, he was united in marriage to Rosalea Breitenfeldt in Hamilton County. Roy was a member of the Pleasant View Mennonite Church his entire life, and was baptized as a small boy. He was also a member of the School Board of District #68 for many years. A spotted swine breeder for over 63 years, Roy received countless trophies and awards for his certification of swine over the years. He was inducted into the National Spotted Hall of Fame in 1980, and was the recipient of the Hamilton County Map Maker Award. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers, Joseph, Albert, William and Benjamin; 3 sisters, Salome Vetter, Emma Springer, and Lydia Maw. Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife, Rosalea, of Aurora; a daughter, Sara Hoegemeyer and her husband Jim of Fremont; a sister Mabel Smith of Aurora; one granddaughter Annie Hoegemeyer and one grandson Tim Hoegemeyer; and many other relatives and friends.
