Description	:	Leslie “Les” Clair Mallinger, 87, of Clinton, passed away, Friday, July 3, 2015 at Mercy Living Center, South, Clinton. Services will be held 10:30 AM Monday, July 6, 2015 at Zion Lutheran Church, Clinton. Burial will be in the Springdale Cemetery, Clinton, where full military honors will be conducted by the Clinton AMVETS. Les was born April 1, 1928 in Morrison, IL, the son of Raymond E. and Merle (Eastman) Mallinger. He was a 1947 Lyons High School graduate. Les married Dolores Grimm in Clinton on May 7, 1949. Les was born April 1, 1928 in Morrison, IL, the son of Raymond E. and Merle (Eastman) Mallinger. He was a 1947 Lyons High School graduate. Les married Dolores Grimm in Clinton on May 7, 1949. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran. He had been employed as a Shift Engineer at DuPont for 37 years, retiring in 1984. He also was a real estate agent for several years and had been employed as a Lieutenant at Burns Security with Fire Watch. He had been on the Board of Directors of DuPont Cellophane Employees Credit Union, was a City of Clinton Councilman from 1994 to 1997, he was active with and past delegate of the Older Iowans Legislature and was Speaker Pro-Tem and Parliamentarian. He was a foster parent for 20 years and was active with the Area Agency for the Aging. Les received the Governor’s Volunteer award, awarded by the Governor in 2002 and selected by the Iowa Department of Elder Affairs. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Gary, three brothers, two sisters and one brother-in-law. Obit & photo from Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory.
