Funeral services will be Thursday, July 19, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the Miller Christian Church in Miller, Nebraska. Rev. David Harder will officiate and burial will be at the Riverdale Cemetery. Visitation is planned Wednesday from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. at Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney or prior to services Thursday at the church. He was born December 28, 1921, to Hadsel and Inez (Day) Bentley on the family farm on the South Loup River near Miller, Nebraska. He grew up in the area and graduated from Miller High School in 1939. He was united in marriage to Ruby Roberts on October 23, 1948, at the United Brethren Church in Amherst. He was baptized in 1949 and was a member of the Miller Christian Church and Kearney Gideon's. He had served on the Church board, Redwing school board, and Harrison Township board. He had farmed and ranched all his life, raising cattle, hogs, and sheep, and his favorite job on the farm was building fence. He also loved attending his children and grandchildren's school and other events. Survivors include his wife Ruby; 3 daughters; 2 sons; 13 grandchildren; a sister and a brother. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Connie, brother Clarence, and sister-in-law Velma.
