He was born Oct. 20, 1923, on the farm near Arlington to William and Ida (Ahlemeyer) Hilgenkamp. He spent his childhood years in the Arlington area, where he attended St. Paul's Lutheran School and Church. He married LaVerne M. Carlson on Aug. 1, 1948, at Marietta Presbyterian Church in rural Colon. Following their marriage, he farmed in that area near Colon all of his working years. He was born Oct. 20, 1923, on the farm near Arlington to William and Ida (Ahlemeyer) Hilgenkamp. He spent his childhood years in the Arlington area, where he attended St. Paul's Lutheran School and Church. He married LaVerne M. Carlson on Aug. 1, 1948, at Marietta Presbyterian Church in rural Colon. Following their marriage, he farmed in that area near Colon all of his working years. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Fremont. He had been active in 4-H programs and had served on the board of school district 82. He also had been a member of the Saunders County Pork Producers. Survivors include: his wife, LaVerne; two sons, Dan (and wife, Linda) Hilgenkamp of Searcy, Ark. and their two sons, Bradley and Blake, and Dave (and wife, Andrea) Hilgenkamp of Colon and their two sons, Matthew and Andrew; and a sister, Ethellean Barth of Fremont. He was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers. The funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont with the Rev. Dan Heuer officiating. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Sunday, with family receiving friends 2-4 p.m., at Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont. Burial will be at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery north of Arlington.
