Description	:	Leslie Kruger (1925 - 2003) Leslie Kruger was born September 23, 1925, the son of Walter and Louise Hesse Kruger. He died at the Denison Care Center, Wednesday, July 2, 2003 at the age of seventy-seven. Leslie was born on a farm near Charter Oak and moved with his family to a farm near Buck Grove. He received his education in rural schools near his home. After completing his education, Leslie helped on the family farm. Read More	Leslie Kruger (1925 - 2003) Leslie Kruger was born September 23, 1925, the son of Walter and Louise Hesse Kruger. He died at the Denison Care Center, Wednesday, July 2, 2003 at the age of seventy-seven. Leslie was born on a farm near Charter Oak and moved with his family to a farm near Buck Grove. He received his education in rural schools near his home. After completing his education, Leslie helped on the family farm. On June 26, 1945, Leslie entered the United States Army, serving his country with the 93rd Airdrome Squad. He received his honorable discharge on December 27, 1946. On March 24, 1952, Leslie was united in marriage to Maxine Voss. The couple settled on a farm near Vail until moving to Maxine's family farm near Schleswig. Subsequently, they farmed near Wall Lake until retiring to Denison in 1961, at which time, Leslie went to work for Farmland. Leslie was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, where he was a member of their Voter's Assembly and served as an usher. He was also a member of the Denison American Legion and V.F.W. He was a past member of the Zion Lutheran School board, the KIWANIS and the Golden K's. Leslie enjoyed woodworking, remodeling and fixing things around their home. In his leisure time, he loved Sunday drives, getting together with the grandkids, family reunions and socializing in a game of cards. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Maxine in 2002. Survivors include four daughters, Shirley Van Sickler and her husband, Dennis of Ida Grove; Annette Kruger; Susan Jensen and her husband, Mark; Marilyn Kruger, all of Denison; ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Pollack of Grants Pass, Oregon; Dorothy Petersen and her husband, Gene of Early; two brothers, Wayne Kruger and his wife, Deloris of Vail; Robert Kruger and his wife, Fran of Layton, Utah; other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 8, 2003 at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison, Iowa. Rev. Kurt Kaiser and Vicar David Sewing officiated the services and grave side rites held at Morgan Cemetery in Schleswig, Iowa. Organist Jeanette Venzke provided the organ accompaniment for soloist Eldon Hardekopf as he sang "On Eagles Wings", and for congregational hymns "Rock of Ages, Cleft for Me", and "Amazing Grace, How Sweet the Sound." Those serving as honorary pallbearers were: Brandi Van Sickler, Brett Van Sickler, Garrett Kruger, Derek Jensen, Shae Leigh Jensen, Heather Jensen, Megan Jensen, and Bobbie Weber. Those serving as pallbearers were: Brandon Van Sickler, David Bannister, Lodean Voss, Bryan Van Sickler, Jeff Sharkey; and Chris Weber. Military rites were performed by the American Legion Post 8 of Denison, Iowa. The family invited everyone in attendance to join them in fellowship and lunch served by the Ladies Aid. The Huebner Funeral Home in Denison was in charge of the arrangements.
