Description	:	Maxine (Voss) Kruger (1931 - 2002) Maxine Kruger was born August 4, 1931, the daughter of John and Hanna Jurgensen Voss. She died Friday, May 10, 2002 at the Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison, Iowa at the age of seventy. Maxine was born in Schleswig, Iowa. She was baptized in Christ, October 9, 1931 and confirmed in the Lutheran faith March 25, 1945 at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. She died Friday, May 10, 2002 at the Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison, Iowa at the age of seventy. Maxine was born in Schleswig, Iowa. She was baptized in Christ, October 9, 1931 and confirmed in the Lutheran faith March 25, 1945 at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. After completing her education in a rural school in Goodrich Township, she helped on the family farm and at the age of eighteen, Maxine worked as a housekeeper for John and Mabel Rattenborg. She later cooked at the Jo Mart Steak House in Denison for many years. On March 24, 1952, Maxine was united in marriage to Leslie Kruger at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison by Rev. Carl W. Schmidt. The couple made their home on a farm near Vail until moving to Maxine's family farm near Schleswig. The couple also farmed near Wall Lake for a few years before moving to Denison in 1961. Maxine was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and their Ladies Aid. She loved crocheting, sewing and cooking for her family. She also loved the challenge of word search books, socializing and playing Bingo at Eventide. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Erwin and Gilbert Voss. Survivors include her husband, Leslie of Denison; four daughters, Shirley Van Sickler and her husband, Dennis of Ida Grove; Annette Kruger; Susan Jensen and her husband, Mark; Marilyn Kruger, all of Denison; ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild; two sisters-in-law, Marvella Voss of Schleswig and Loretta Voss of Yankton; South Dakota;·other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 13, 2002 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Denison, Iowa. Rev. David Sewing officiated the service and grave side rites held at the Morgan Cemetery in Schleswig, Iowa. Organist Karen Kahl provided the organ music for Eldon Hardekopf singing "On Eagle's Wings" and congregational hymns "Rock of Ages, Cleft for Me" and "Amazing Grace, How Sweet the Sound". Pallbearers were: Brandon Van Sickler, Shae Leigh Jensen, Brandi Van Sickler, Heather Jensen, Garrett Kruger, Megan Jensen, Derek Jensen and Bobbie Weber. Pallbearers were: Bryan Van Sickler, Brett Van Sickler, David Bannister; Jeff Sharkey, Chris Weber, Jack Voss and Lodean Voss. The family invited everyone at the service to join them in fellowship and lunch at the church, served by the Ladies Aid. The Huebner Funeral Home in Denison was in charge of arrangements.
