Les was born on March 18, 1933, in Creighton, Nebraska, the son of Reinhard and Bertha (Von Rentzell) Doerr. Les was raised on the family farm. Following a farm accident, Les went to mechanic's school. Les was baptized and confirmed at Golgotha Lutheran Church, Wausa, Nebraska. Later, he became a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Norfolk, Nebraska. On September 8, 1957, Les married Janice Ehrenberg. The couple made their home in Norfolk, Nebraska. Les was employed at Petring Ford as a mechanic and service manager. He later worked for Central Transport Company. He always enjoyed helping at the farm where he grew up. Les retired in April of 1995. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with his children. He had a great love for his family. Les loved to work on cars and restored a 1957 Ford Retractable Hardtop. He was a member of the Norfolk (NE.) Antique Car Club. Les is survived by: wife of 56 years, Janice Doerr, Norfolk, Nebraska; daughter, Debra Doerr and her husband, Doug Charko, of Lincoln, Nebraska; son, Kelvin Doerr, of Omaha, Nebraska; grandchildren, Kelsey Doerr and Kyle Doerr; brothers, Melvin (Gladys) Doerr, of Omaha, Nebraska, Ray (Joyce) Doerr, of Plainview, Nebraska, Mardella Smith, of Wausa, NEebraska and Stella (Pastor Luther) Gutz, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho and a host of family and friends. Les was preceded in death by: parents; brother, Milford N. Doerr and sister, Ethel Guernsey. Funeral services for Leslie V. Doerr was at 10:30 a.m., Friday, January 25, 2014, at Grace Lutheran Church, Norfolk, Nebraska. Burial was in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, Norfolk, Nebraska.
