Smith, daughter of Reinhard and Bertha (Von Rentzell) Doerr, was born October 10, 1939, at Creighton, NE. She was baptized and confirmed at Golgatha Lutheran Church of rural Wausa. Mardella raised three children, Rod, Sandy and Diane, on the farm northwest of Wausa. In 1979, she was employed at Goodyear Tire in Norfolk, for three years. She retired in Wausa. Survivors include her children, Rod (Gayle) Smith of Pleasant Dale, NE, Sandy (Mike) Klassen of Lindsay, NE, and Diane (Mike) Wakeley of Wausa, NE; brothers, Melvin (Gladys) Doerr of Omaha, NE and Ray (Joyce) Doerr of Plainview, NE; sister, Stella (Luther) Gutz; brother-in-law, Tom Guernsey of Omaha; sisters-in-law, Janice Doerr of Norfolk, Janiece Carr of Sedona, AZ, and Gladys Doerr of Omaha; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Reinhard and Bertha (Von Rentzell) Doerr; brothers, Milford and Les Doerr; and sister, Ethel Guernsey.
