W., Waverly, died Tuesday noon, Feb. 27, 1979 at the Waverly Municipal Hospital, where he had been a patient for three days. He was born on July 7, 1917 in Waverly, the son of Ernest and Emelia Westendorf Kueker. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith on July 29, 1917 in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Artesian by Pastor Melcher, and was confirmed on May 24, 1931 in Trinity Lutheran Church, Bremer, by Pastor Hansen. W., Waverly, died Tuesday noon, Feb. 27, 1979 at the Waverly Municipal Hospital, where he had been a patient for three days. He was born on July 7, 1917 in Waverly, the son of Ernest and Emelia Westendorf Kueker. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith on July 29, 1917 in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Artesian by Pastor Melcher, and was confirmed on May 24, 1931 in Trinity Lutheran Church, Bremer, by Pastor Hansen. Les attended school in Bremer and then helped his father on the family farm east of Bremer. On April 22, 1941 he was united in marriage to Mildred Heineman in St. John's Lutheran Church by Rev. H. A. Roschke. Les continued farming until 1943 when the couple moved into Waverly. He worked as a carpenter for the Carver Lumber Co. in Waverly until 1950 when he became employed by the Schield Bantam Co. in Waverly. Les became ill in March, 1978, had surgery and returned to work until October. He bacame ill again and took cancer treatments in Waverly and Rochester until his death. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Waverly. Surviving are his wife, Mildred, his son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Rae Jean, two brothers, Harold of Denver, Herbert of Waverly, two sisters, Miss Esther Kueker of Waverly, Mrs. Raymond (Viola) Brase of Tripoli, and three grandchildren, Scott, David, and Suzanne. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Lorenz. Following the graveside services, relatives and friends are invited to return to the church for fellowship with the Kueker family.
