Description	:	Lessie Alverta Lane Debord (a.k.a. Deboard) died of pneumonia following the flu at 21 years of age & 5 days. Her husband, Benjamin Howard Deboard, had died only a few days before on Dec. 19. Their only child Howard Ray, born 31 Jan 1917, was adopted by Mack Linea Hash and Nannie Alice Roupe Hash. My grandmother, Mary Alvira Anderson Halsey, used to say that her Aunt Lessie was supposed to have been buried in another cemetery; however, due to a bad snow storm Lessie was buried instead at Pine Branch Cemetery next to her sister Missouri Lane Anderson. I assume the other cemetery would have been South Fork Baptist Church Cemetery in Piney Creek, Alleghany County, North Carolina, since her husband had passed away of the flu 4 days prior and had been taken there for burial. Lessie's death certificate confirms Pine Branch as her burial place. Lessie is buried either next to or is one grave removed from her sister Missouri Lane Anderson depending on where Missouri's unnamed baby was placed. The stone of Lessie's sister, Missouri Lane Anderson, is presently centered over what had been four unmarked graves, the 4 wooden crosses having disappeared long ago- Bulah Clyde the 4 yr old 1st born daughter of Missouri, Grandma Missouri Lane Anderson, Missouri's week old baby Boy, and Lessie Alverta Lane DeBoard.
