Description	:	Missouri was the daughter of Meredith E. and Thursa Elvira (Parks) Lane. According to the Virginia Birth Register she was born in the Wilson District of Grayson County on 27 Jan 1880. However her headstone gives 27 Feb 1880 as her date of birth. The 1880 census, which was enumerated 4 Jun of that year says she was 3 months old and had been born in Feb. However her headstone gives 27 Feb 1880 as her date of birth. The 1880 census, which was enumerated 4 Jun of that year says she was 3 months old and had been born in Feb. The 1900 Census says she was born in Jan 1879. Missouri Lane and Gilbert S. Anderson were married in Mar 1901. "Grayson Co. Marriages, 1899-1909" gives Mar 7, 1901 as their marriage date. The Marriage License confirms 7 Mar 1901. However, I understand the Anderson family Bible states March 13, 1901 as their marriage date. (per discussion with my uncle who is a grandson of Missouri as posted in the Halsey Group on Facebook, September 7, 2011 at 10:46pm). I believe the variance in dates can largely be cleared up by examining the original marriage license. Here are some quotes from the marriage license: 1st part: Marriage License issued by the Clerk of the County Court of Grayson on "this 4th day of Mar 1901." 2nd part: The time of the marriage was set to be on "Mar. 7, 1901." The certificate is then signed by the county clerk of the court, dated 4 Mar. 1901. 3rd part (Certificate of Time and Place of Marriage): "I, J (?) Hash, a member of the Methodist Church or religious order of that name do certify that on the 7 day of March 1901, at M. C. Lanes, under the authority of the above License, I united in Marriage the persons named and described therein. Given under my hand this 15th day of March 1901." The marriage clearly took place on the 7th of March. The minister signed it for marriage return on the 15th, a week after the marriage. The 15th is the most obvious date when quickly scanning the end of the document for a date. The Possibly the 15th was then mistaken for the 13th and written as such in the Anderson Bible, while not noting the actual marriage date of the 7th. My grandmother, Mary Alvira Anderson Halsey, was the daughter of Missouri. Our family tradition says Missouri's middle name was Clementine. However another tradition says it was Callie. I have been unable to verify either and have left it as it was when Rich graciously transferred her memorial to me. Grandma Missouri Anderson died in childbirth. She had given birth around December 1 and about 2 weeks later she died, having been "sick about 2 weeks. About a week before God took from them their youngest child about one week old." (See Obit in Pics) The headstone of Missouri Lane Anderson was not there until after Ola (Missouri Lane Anderson's daughter) died. Ola had her family promise to get her mom, Missouri Lane Anderson, a marker. Missouri's stone is centered over 4 graves, the 4 wooden markers having long ago disappeared: Clyde the 4 yr old 1st born daughter of Missouri, Grandma Missouri Anderson, week old baby Boy, and Lessie Alverta Lane DeBoard (Grandma Missouri's sister).
