His death occurred May 15, 1980, at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City. Mrs. L J Powell, organist, accompanied by Mrs. Raymond Axmear and Don Ridenour who sang, "In the Garden" and "The old Rugged Cross" Casket bearers were Harold Stahl, Cherokee Village, Ark., Marian Strasser, North English, Harley Cover, Cedar Rapids, Arthur Merck, Deep River, Kenneth DeBont, Keswick, and Eugene Merck, Montezuma. Burial was in the Millersburg Cemetery. Serving on the flower committee were the Forrest Wilhites and the Donald Dixons. Jordan was born Mar 22, 1886 near Deep River, the son of Orren and Crysey Ann Nesmith Jordan. He attended rural school near Deep River, and graduated from Commercial college, Des Moines. Dec. 25, 1913 he married Hazel Stoner near Ladora. They farmed for 50 years in Iowa County, moving to North English 17 years ago, from west of Millersburg. He was a member of the United Methodist Church. Survivors are his wife Hazel; a daughter, Phyllis(Mrs. Dale) Jones, Deep River; two sisters, Dorothy(Mrs. Raymond Merck)Deep River, and Mrs. Edna Powers, Hayfield, MN, three grandchildren, Mrs. Donald Roller (Janice), Brooklyn, Mrs. Edwin Koehn (Virginia) rural North English, and Ronald Jones of Grinnell, and 11 great grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents, a brother Everett, and five sisters, Ethel Stahl, Roxie Jordan, Sylvia Cover, Edith DeBont and an infant sister, Jessie.
