Description	:	Lester Eugene Marshall (February 26, 1923 - August 31, 2007) Lester Eugene Marshall, 84, of Tulare, SD, died August 31, 2007 in Elizabeth, CO. Lester was born at home, in Altoona Township rural Hitchcock, SD, the first of twin boys, to Herbert and Mary Marshall. He attended school in Bonilla. Read More	Lester Eugene Marshall (February 26, 1923 - August 31, 2007) Lester Eugene Marshall, 84, of Tulare, SD, died August 31, 2007 in Elizabeth, CO. Lester was born at home, in Altoona Township rural Hitchcock, SD, the first of twin boys, to Herbert and Mary Marshall. He attended school in Bonilla. In high school, he ran track and held the record time for the half mile for several years. Lester was drafted into the Army during WWII. The war ended before he shipped out, but he was still sent to the Philippine Islands. He married Doris Leonard July 29, 1945 while he was home on leave. After returning home, he worked at the Farmer's Union Coop driving fuel truck in the Spink County area. He returned to his real love farming. He farmed near Bonilla and then moved to rural Crandon in 1955 taking over Roy Leonard's farm. He farmed there until 1991 when he retired and moved into Tulare. Lester was active in the American Legion and Tulare Lions Club. Lester is survived by three children Lana (Virgil) Whetsel of Rapid City, SD; Mary (Freddie) Hudson of Elizabeth, CO; and Dan (Paula) Marshall of Leesville, LA; nine grandchildren: Virgil (Teresa), Amy Whetsel and Kent Redeker, Kari Whetsel and Adam Langfeld, Brandi (Lonnie) Wilson, David Marshall, Brian, Sara, Alicia and Allison Hudson and nine great grandchildren: Aiden, Kade and Logan Whetsel, Jacob and Madelyn Langfeld, John, Joe, Christina and Jacob Wilson. He is also survived be two brothers: Lyle of Huron, SD and Glen (Maxine) of Hitchcock, SD and three sisters: Reva Maher of Pierre, SD; Marie Malone of Huron, SD and Lenore Schamp of Sioux Falls, SD. He was preceded in death by his wife Doris in 2005, four brothers and four sisters. His memorial service will be Saturday, September 8, 2007 at the Tulare United Church in Tulare. Reverend Deb Mack will officiate. Burial of ashes will be in the Tulare Cemetery. Arrangements by Thelen Funeral Home. www.thelenfuneralhome.com
