Description	:	Lester Ray Winn, of Clinton, Montana, left this earth on December 29, 2010, the way he wanted, sitting in his recliner watching the Western Channel. Born on January 19, 1915, in Stafford, Kansas to Charles and Elizabeth Myrtle (Duvall) Winn, he grew up and attended school in Coleharbor, North Dakota. Read More	Lester Ray Winn, of Clinton, Montana, left this earth on December 29, 2010, the way he wanted, sitting in his recliner watching the Western Channel. Born on January 19, 1915, in Stafford, Kansas to Charles and Elizabeth Myrtle (Duvall) Winn, he grew up and attended school in Coleharbor, North Dakota. He began working with a team of horses and farming at about the age of 8. Growing up during the depression, he rode the rails with his brother looking for work. Enlisting in the Navy one week after Pearl Harbor, he served in the European and Pacific theatres and survived the sinking of the carrier USS Wasp. Even though he had cheated on his swimming test, he managed to stay afloat with his boots on, until rescue. After separation from the Navy, he returned to North Dakota and farmed until moving to Moiese, Montana, in 1956. He made his living ranching and also worked at the yearly round-up at the Bison Range riding his horse, Diamond, where he enjoyed helping Joe and Calvin do "whatever". He remained there until 2005, when he moved to Clinton, where he lived out the remainder of his life. Les was a healthy man, not taking any medicine that wasn't self-prescribed. He was preceded in death by his two sisters, Jessie Peightal and Ruby Wicklund, two brothers, Charles and Russell Winn, and his former wife, Marjorie Smith. He is survived by his sister, Doris (Johnny) Johnson of Spokane, Washington; his two sons, Ray (Donna) Winn of Frenchtown, Montana, and Jim (Gayle) Winn of Clinton, Montana. He had fived grandchildren, as well as 11-great-grandchildren, and four great-great-granchildren. "You are not gone, Grandpa, we just can't see you from the road."
