Description	:	Lester T. Fonda, son of Mrs. Anna Fonda, passed away at a Keokuk (IA) hospital after an illness of several weeks. He became ill with pleurisy in April, from which complications developed, and was taken to the hospital April 21, where he underwent an operation, which seemingly was successful. However, he never recovered from the ordeal, and two weeks later passed away. His mother was with him during the last three weeks of his life. Fonda, son of Mrs. Anna Fonda, passed away at a Keokuk (IA) hospital after an illness of several weeks. He spent his boyhood in Osage, attended the local schools, and was graduated with the class of 1915. (..) he enlisted for service in the World War, and was sent to Jefferson Barracks. His detachment was No. 6, 163rd D.B., and he was a mechanic on a bombing plane. He received his honorable discharge December 20, 1918, at Camp Dodge, and returned to Osage. (..) When he was taken ill he was supervising a construction project in Joliet, IL. His wife was formerly Bess Caruthers, of Farmington, IA, and they are parents of a daughter, Marjory Ann, 7 years of age. Another child died at birth. Surviving besides the wife and daughter are his mother, Mrs. Anna Fonda, who lives with her mother, Mrs. Martha Doudna, Osage; his sister, Mrs. Newman Lyle, of Sheldon, IA; and his brother, William, Ames. Funeral services were held at the Pearson & Schmidt funeral home in Keokuk, and burial made in the National cemetery at that place, with Masonic and military honors. Rootsweb Link for this Person
