MOORE, 71, 217 West Eighth street, died at 11:55 a.m. today at Woodlawn hospital, where he had been a patient the last four weeks. He died of a heart ailment after an illness of two years. Secretary of the Chester White Record assiciation for 27 years, Mr. Moore retired from that position Jan. 1, 1958. He was born Aug. 21, 1889, in Rochester township, the son of Frank F. and Laura Virginia McMAHAN MOORE. He had lived in Rochester and vicinity his entire life. On Aug. 8, 1912, in Rochester, he was married to Lillian HARDIN, who survives at home. Mr. Moore became national secretary of the Chester White association in 1931 and also served from that time until 1958 as editor of the association's magazine, The Chester White Journal. His father was the association's first secretary, beginning in 1907. Levi, James and Fred MOORE formed the Moore Brothers Publishing company and issued the first hog journal, then the White Breeders Compnion, in 1910. Mr. Moore was a life member of the Indiana Breeders association and had been associated with the Chester White breed since 18 years of age. For 50 yers the national office of the association was located at 116 East Eighth street in The Sentinel building, moving last year one door west. Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Nicholas (Dorothy) PRESECAN, Rialto, Cal.; three grandchildren, Nicholas L. PRESECAN, Purdue university; Mrs. Marvin L. CHESHIRE, Pompano Beach, Fla., and Larry Steven MOORE, U.S. Navy; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert P. MOORE, and a sister, Mrs. A. B. (Reba) SHORE, both of Rochester. A son, Guy R. MOORE, preceded him in death March 13, 1950, and a grandson, Phillip PRESECAN, died Sept. 8, 1953. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Zimmerman Brothers funeral home here. The Rev. James SCHUMACHER will be in charge and burial will be in the Rochester I.O.O.F. cemetery. MOORE, 71, who died at 11:55 a.m. Friday in Woodlawn hospital after a two-year illness. Funeral rites will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Zimmerman Brothers funeral home with the Rev. James SCHUMACHER in charge. Friends may call at the funeral home. Mr. Moore, for 27 years national secretary of the Chester White Swine Record Association, had retired on Jan. 1, 1958. He also served that length of time as editor of The Chester White Journal, magazine of the Association, and maintained national offices of the swine record group in Rochester. He had been a member of the Indiana State Fair Board for 24 years, serving under eight diffferent Indiana governors. He was chosen president of the Fair Board on two occasions and during his long tenure as board member was director of the publicity and amusements department. Mr. Moore also had been president of the Indiana Livestock Breeders Association, president of the National Swine Record Association, which includes all breeds of hogs, and president of the National Livestock Breeders of the World. A member of the Rochester Masonic lodge, he was a 32nd degree Mason who soon would have completed 50 years of lodge membership. He also belonged to the Murat Shrine temple in Indianapolis.
