Read More	Waverly KS Gazette, Friday, July 12, 1912: LEWIS CHILCOTE DEAD Louis (sic) Chilcote, who formerly lived here, but has lived at Iola for the past few years, died at his home Saturday last of dropsy. He has been suffering for several years with heart trouble, but dropsy developed a few months ago and caused his death. The body was shipped here Monday evening and the funeral was held at the Methodist church Tuesday in the afternoon at three o'clock, the service being conducted by Rev. West in the presence of many friends of the family, and the body was laid to rest in the city cemetery. Lewis Chilcote was born near Mount Gilead, Marrow Co., Ohio, March 1, 1866, and died in Iola, Kan, July 6, 1912, age 46 yrs. 4 mo. 5 days. For the past 18 months he had suffered with heart trouble, but for the past 10 weeks he had been confined to his home. He united with the Baptist church of this city when a young man, later united with the Christian church of which he remained a faithful member until his death. He was a faithful husband and a kind father. Decedent was a resident of Waverly and vicinity for many years, and when last he lived here he was in the cement business. He patented a cement sidewalk form that he has been putting on the past year or so, it being manufactured for him by an iron works company at Iola. It was just getting where it was making him some money. He leaves a wife and three sons and one daughter to mourn his loss. Mrs. Leota Chilcote and family Ottawa KS Evening Herald, Tuesday, July 9, 1912: The body of the late Louis (sic) Chilcote of Waverly, was shipped through Ottawa from Iola to Waverly for burial last night. Mr. Chilcote had lived at Waverly for the last twenty-four years. He died at Iola Saturday evening at 9:15 o'clock. Accompanying the body were the survivors of the deceased, his mother, wife and four children. Iola KS Register, Monday, July 8, 1912: DEATH OF LOUIS CHILCOTE Long Illness Ended Life of an Iola Man Saturday Louis (sic) Chilcote, aged 46 years, of 924 North Walnut street, died at his home Saturday night at 10 o'clock of suffocation. Mr. Chilcote had been ill some time and his death was not unexpected by his family. The funeral was held at the residence this morning as 10 o'clock, Rev. O. C. Moomaw officiating. The body was shipped to Waverly, Ks, this afternoon for burial.
