Libby attended country schools. On Tuesday; February 13, 1934, she was united in marriage to Richard J. Zody in the parsonage of the Tama Methodist Church. (Melsa) Zody was born on Sunday; February 15, 1914, in rural Toledo; Tama County, Iowa. She was the daughter of: James and Anna (Chaloupek) Melsa. Libby attended country schools. On Tuesday; February 13, 1934, she was united in marriage to Richard J. Zody in the parsonage of the Tama Methodist Church. The couple farmed in Otter Creek Township and Libby continued to farm on her own after Richard's death. Her career in farming spanned seventy-two years, and she has been dedicated to raising sheep for fifty-one years. She was a Farm Bureau member for many years. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and canning. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren when they came to visit. Libby L. (Melsa) Zody, age 92, of Toledo, Iowa passed away on Friday; April 7, 2006 at the Grandview Acres in Toledo, Iowa due to a short illness. Those left to mourn her passing are one son, John (Janet) Zody of Toledo; one daughter, Bonnie Novak of Orland Park; Cook County, Illinois. Six grandchildren; four great-granddaughters; six step great-grandchildren; one niece, Patricia Price; one sister-in-law, Tillie Melsa; and many cousins. Libby was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard on Monday; July 3, 1978. One brother, Fred Melsa; and one sister, Aggie Melsa. May they rest in peace. May God bless her memory and give strength to those that mourn. Visitation will be from: 100 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday; April 9, 2006 at the in Tama with the family present from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama, Iowa. Funeral Services will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Monday; April 10, 2006 also at the Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama, Iowa with Pastor Jerry Avise-Rouse officiating. Interment will follow at the National Cemetery in rural Vining; Tama County, Iowa. A memorial fund in Libby's honor has been established.
