Read More	John Wesley Landon, Jr. SHREVEPORT, LA - John Wesley Landon, Jr. died April 1, 2012 in Shreveport, LA. He was born January 21, 1919 in Hardin, Montana on the Crow Indian Reservation. He lived 93 colorful years. His father homesteaded on the Big Horn River just down river from The Little Big Horn. He played basketball at both Hardin High School and Crow Agency with his buddy Leonard Pretty Weasle. He joined the service out of high school at Ft. Lewis Washington and subsequently joined the Army Air Corps during WW II. He went to OCS and obtained the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. He trained navigators in Panama. He also crashed three times. When stationed in Albuquerque he and his crew were picked by Jimmy Doolittle to be on call for air raids. He wasn't called. He retired from the Air Force at Barksdale Air Force Base and met his wife of 70 years, Mary Frances Wedgeworth. They were married March 21, 1942. He worked his way up in the appraisal business by first being a floor sander, then carpenter, then contractor, then appraiser. You couldn't slip any building flaw by him. He loved hunting, fishing for bluegills, redear and bass, and loved hunting deer in his childhood haunts of Montana. He also loved golf. He was known for his large fish fries and renowned for his hush puppies and accompanying storytelling. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his son Jack. He is survived by his wife Frances, son Tom, 4 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday April 6, 2012 at the Forest Park Cemetery on St. Vincent Ave. A reception will also be held at 10 a.m. Saturday April 7, 2012 at the Live Oak Community Center. Everyone is invited.
