Burial will follow in the Drakes Fork Cemetery in Cravens. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. today, Feb. 12, until time of service Wednesday in the funeral home. Mr. Brister died at 10:05 a.m. Monday, Feb. 11, in his residence. He was a lifelong resident of the Vernon and Beauregard parishes area. He worked for the timber industry and served in World War II in the Army Air Force. He was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his wife, Sylvia Brister of DeRidder; five sons, Harliss Brister of Leesville, Raymond Brister, Landry Brister, Ollen Brister and Jerry Brister, all of DeRidder; two daughters, Shirleen Murray and Sandra Felton, both of DeRidder; three brothers, J.B. Brister and Derwood Brister, both of DeRidder, and Charles Brister of Deer Park, Texas; three sisters, Inez Duncan of Orretta, Mary Ellen Barney of Pennsylvania, and Faye Hosey of New Orleans; 27 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren.
