WEDDING ANNOUNCEMENT: Peppler-New (handwritten notation "1885") "Much interest has been felt, for some time by the two family circles so nearly concerned, in the very interesting event, which took place Wednesday evening, Nov. 4, at the house of A. R. New, in Hampton, N. Y. About half past eight o'clock, whilst Miss Lucy New in her own graceful style, played the wedding march, the happy pair took places under hanging boughs of evergreen and white flowers, which loving hands had prepared, where after a few but effective words spoken by Rev. D. L. Starks, she who has been so well and favorably known as Miss Lillie B. New, became Mrs. Fred Peppler. The bride was (as always) very lovely in green silk, with no ornaments, save one pure white blossom at her throat, whilst the groom in evening dress of black, with white tie, seemed well fitted to claim the Lily he had won. After the congratulations, the attraction seemed to center about the long table, heavily laden with both valuable and useful presents, a list of which will be found below. After a season of social intercourse with music, both vocal and instrumental, elegant refreshments consisting of sandwiches, cake and coffee were served, soon after which, the guests departed, hoping for the young couple a happy and useful life, which is thus auspiciously opening before them. Mr. and Mrs. Peppler left the next day for a short trip to Rutland, Middlebury and other places north. Mrs. Peppler was born in Hampton September 2, 1864, was therefore in her twenty-seventh year. She married Mr. Peppler Nov 4, 1885, and has since lived in this village, and much respected by a large circle of friends. She leaves besides a bereaved husband one girl baby seven months old. She was a member of the Episcopal Church, having united with that body about three years ago.
