Description	:	Lillian Esther Madson, the eldest daughter of Paul and Mabel (Pinney) Hickstein was born July 24, 1910, at Rising City, Nebraska. She died June 18, 1988, at the Brodstone Memorial Hospital, Superior, Nebraska, at the age of 77 years, 10 months and 25 days. She was baptized as a child into the Christian faith. Read More	Lillian Esther Madson, the eldest daughter of Paul and Mabel (Pinney) Hickstein was born July 24, 1910, at Rising City, Nebraska. She died June 18, 1988, at the Brodstone Memorial Hospital, Superior, Nebraska, at the age of 77 years, 10 months and 25 days. She was baptized as a child into the Christian faith. She moved with her parents at the age of 10 to Nuckolls County, where she received her education, and graduated from Nelson High School in 1928. She attended Peru State Teachers College and taught in the rural schools in Nuckolls County for several years. On May 28, 1934, she was united in marriage to Walter Warneking, and to this union three daughters were born, Shirley, Bonnie and Pat. Her husband Walter passed away in 1966. In 1973 she was married to Mogens Madson. He passed away in 1986. She was a member of Centennial Lutheran Church, and taught Sunday School classes for many years, was a member of Lutheran Women's Missionary League. She was active as a 4-h leader for over 30 years, was a member of the County Extension Club, Neighborhood Club, Birthday Club and Retired Teachers Association. She was a long time member of the Nuckolls County Museum Board, and with her husband Mogens worked very hard to help obtain items of local history for the museum. Of special interest to her were the school exhibit and the farm machinery collection. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, and her brother, Leo Hickstein. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Durham (Shirley), Denver, Mr. and Mrs. Lars Pedersen (Bonnie), Superior, Pat Etherton, Lincoln; a stepson, Ted Madson, Nelson; grandchildren, Chavone and Steve Jacobs, Aurora, Colorado, Stacey and Kaloni Matousek, Denver, Dan and Nancy Pedersen, York, Carlie and Joe Sharek, Fayetteville, New York, David Pedersen, Hardy, Jamee and Doug Kline, Scott and Brian Etherton, Lincoln; two step grandchildren, Terry Madson, Nelson, Micky Hendershot, Texas; and two step great grandchildren. Sisters and brothers-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Wehrman (Beryl) Nelson, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Crosby (Delores), Grand Island, Mrs. Rose Smith, Monroe; sisters-in-law, Ilene Hickstein, Grand Island, Irma Warneking, Deshler, and Magdalena, Marie and Mary Warneking of Superior, many other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held Monday, June 20, 1988, at 2:30 p.m. from the Centennial Lutheran Church in Superior, Nebraska, with Pastor David Loeschen officiating. A congregational hymn of "Nearer My God To Thee" and a duet of "How Great Thou Art" by LaMira Mueller and Pat Parde with Marietta Stenson as organist and accompanist. Casketbearers were Dan Pedersen, David Pedersen, Scott Etherton, Milvern Grummert, Everett Meyer and Eldrick Grummert. Burial was in the Salem Lutheran Cemetery, rural Superior, Nebraska.
