ARTHUR BESTWICK PASSES AWAY Many lifelong friends of Mrs. Arthur Bestwick learned of her death near Falls City with deep sorrow. Mrs. Bestwick's death occurred Sunday at her home after a short illness. She was born in Sabetha January 29, 1882, her maiden name being Miss Lilly Smith. She was married to Arthur Bestwick January 29, 1902. Mr. and Mrs. Bestwick lived in Sabetha the first eight years of their married life, moving to falls City. Mr. Bestwick has charge of Weaver Bros. fruit farm near Falls City. The body of Mrs. Bestwick wa brought to Sabetha for burial beside her mother in the Sabetha cemetery. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday conducted by Rev. Hamiliton. Harold Geiger, Court Parker, Mrs. James Haxton and Miss Lila Parker, sang. The pall bearers were A. M. Haxton, Joseph Haxton, Oscar Cave, Edgar Newm,am, Ed Corwin and Bert Sprague. Mrs. Bestwick was a member of the Methodist Church for many years. Her father, J. D. Smith who lived at Sabetha so many years was here from Falls City. She was a sister of John Smith of Sabetha, Mrs. Charles Newman of Omaha, Mrs. David Risen of Grand Island, and Mrs. Mary Mack of Omaha. All were here for the funeral. Mrs. Bestwick left four children, the oldest twelve. She was a good wife and mother. Friends tell of her womanly qualities and express sympathy for family and relatives. (Thanks goes to Researcher Barbara Schwartz for finding Lillian so she is not forgotten.) NOTE: The obituary of C. D. Smith lists his living children, he died at his daughter's home in Grand Island, Mrs. Reisen.
