Description	:	LILLIAN MAUD PRESTON Lillian Maud Nichols, daughter of Jason and Mary Nichols, was born February 27, 1874 in Cass County, Iowa, and departed this life at the Krauth Nursing Home near Corning, May 31, at 11:30 a.m. at the age of 61 years, 3 months and 4 days. Read More	LILLIAN MAUD PRESTON Lillian Maud Nichols, daughter of Jason and Mary Nichols, was born February 27, 1874 in Cass County, Iowa, and departed this life at the Krauth Nursing Home near Corning, May 31, at 11:30 a.m. at the age of 61 years, 3 months and 4 days. The past two years she had been in failing health but suffered a cerebral hemorrhage about two weeks ago from which she never rallied and quietly slept away. Her parents preceded her in death, leaving her an orphan at the age of nine. Until the time of her marriage, she made her home with her uncle, F. B. Nichols, at Atlantic, Iowa. On September 1, 1892, she was united in marriage to Stephen Henry Preston and to this union ten children were born, also three step-children were reared in the home as her own. They spent 36 years on a farm northwest of Mt. Etna. In 1940 they retired from the farm and moved to Corning, where Mr. Preston passed away on August 11, 1946. She leaves to mourn her passing her children, Mary Cline, Flora Richards, Nira Thomas, Myrtle Hall, all of Corning; Arthur of Hillsboro, N. Dak.; Edna Schwalbe of Portland, Ore.; and Fletcher of Mt. Etna; also a step-daughter, Zepha Riley. Also surviving are four daughters-in-law, six sons-in-law, 36 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her husband; two infant daughters, Zaida and Irma; one son, Charles, and two step-sons, Odie and Thomas; one sister, Laliah Simpson, and an infant brother. She was a faithful member of the Baptist church of Corning, and attended as long as health permitted. Mr. and Mrs. Preston had the pleasure of celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary on Sept. 1, 1942 at the farm home. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Funeral services were held at the Roland Funeral Home Friday, June 3, at 2 p.m., with Rev. B. D. Bradbury assisted by Rev. Harry Rogers in charge. Interment was at Forest Hill Cemetery. Music was furnished by Mrs. John Narigon and Mrs. Chet Fox with Mrs. Hade DeVore, pianist. Pall bearers were Ronald Cline, Tom Richards, Donald Preston, Wm. Thomas, Leo Preston and Earl Hall.
