Description	:	S. H. Preston Stephen Henry Preston, oldest son of Rev. Obadiah and Mary Preston, was born in Morgan County Ohio, March 4th 1862, and departed this life August 11th, 1946, at his home in Corning, Iowa, death due to a cerebral hemorrhage. Obadiah and Mary Preston, was born in Morgan County Ohio, March 4th 1862, and departed this life August 11th, 1946, at his home in Corning, Iowa, death due to a cerebral hemorrhage. Mr. Preston has been in failing health for many months, cared for in his home, where loving hands ministered to his every wish. When a boy of thirteen, the family moved to Wisconsin, and from there to Adams county in 1875, where he spent the remainder of his life. On February 14, 1885, he was united in marriage to Agnes Nichols, who passed away October 4th, 1890, leaving him with three small children. Two years later, he was married to Lillian Nichols, of Atlantic, Iowa, on September 1st. Ten children were born to this union, and Mr. and Mrs. Preston were privileged to celebrate their Golden Wedding day. Mr. Preston devoted his entire life to farming, until failing health forced him to retire, about six years ago, when he and Mrs. Preston moved to Corning. He was known for his honesty, and his willingness to assist in the promotion of any cause for the advancement of the community. He was affiliated with the United Brethren Church. Besides his sorrowing wife are left to mourn his passing, his children Odie Preston, Corning, Zepha Riley, Corning, Mary Cline, Corning, Charlie Preston, Corning, Arthur Preston, Hillsboro, N.D., Flora Richards, Corning, Edna Schuairie, Portland, Oregon, Fletcher Preston, Mt. Etna, Nira Thomas, Corning, and Myrtle Hall, Mt. Etna. Two daughters, Zalda and Irma preceded him in death, and one son, Thomas of Mt. Etna, passed away three years ago. Also surviving are 33 grand children and 13 great grandchildren, all of whom he dearly loved and in whom he took great pride. One brother, Isaac Preston, of Valejo, Calif., also survives. Mr. Preston had given much thought to his last days, and had indicated his wishes for final arrangements, planning them with great care. Funeral services were conducted in the Church of the Brethren in Mt. Etna, Iowa, Tuesday afternoon, August 13th, at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Harry Rogers. Music was furnished by Gerald Thomas, accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Vinnie Johnston. Pall bearers were Wayne Preston, Robert Preston, Ronald Cline, Donald Preston, Tommy Richards and Wilbur Preston. Interment was made in the Forest Hill Cemetery.
