Cooper, daughter of John R. and Elizabeth Cooper, was born in Crawfordsville, Ind., July 5, 1860, and departed this life Feb. 2, 1950, at the home of her daughter, Claudia Collins, of Russell, at the age of 89 years, six months and 28 days. After a lingering illness she was called home in spite of all the care that loving hands could administer. All of her immediate family were at her bedside when the end came. She accepted Christ as her Saviour in 1939 and was awaiting her Master's call. Soon after the Civil War she came with her parents to Iowa, locating near Albia, moving to Lucas county in Sept., 1887, where she spent the rest of her life. On Dec. 1, 1881, she was united in marriage to William F. Hale and to this union one daughter, Claudia M., was born. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and five brothers. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Claudia Collins of Russell, two grandsons, Donald and Clair Collins, of Russell, five great grandchildren, two sisters, Rhoda Maddy of Ottumwa and Nellie Crown of Holly, Mich., and one brother, Stanton Cooper of Chariton. Services in charge of the Rev. Clifford Carter, of the Evangelical United Brethren church were held Saturday, Feb. 4, at 2 p.m., at the Miley funeral home. Burial was at the Bethel cemetery.
