Description	:	Lillie Berentson, a former resident of the Ossian area, died Wednesday, November 1,1995 at Mercy Hospital in Oelwein after a short illness. She was 81 years old. Lillie was born June 7,1914 in rural Ossian, the daughter of Benhard & Betsy Augusta (Thortjornson)Barness. She attended the area country sachool through grade school and then attended Ossian High School. She married Otto Kleppe, her first husband, December 31,1935 at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, Iowa. She is survived by her two children Richard (Louise) Kleppe of Oelwein and Ethel(Dale) Hilsenbeck of Waterloo; 3 sisters, Borghild Strand, Agnes Thompson and Florence Osmundson all of West Union; a brother,Ralph Barness of West Union; her stepmother Freida Barness of Bergen, Norway; six grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren Funeral services were conducted Monday, November 6 at Bethany Lutheran Church rural Ossian/West Union,Iowa with Rev. Richard Vettrus Officiating, with burial in the Church Cemetery.
