Description	:	Lillie Schmidt, 90, went home to be with the Lord on Nov. 11, 2019 at the Tieszen Memorial Home in Marion, S.D. She was born in Parker, S.D. on May 19, 1929 to Homer and Louise Doonan. Lillie graduated from Parker High School in 1947 before entering the workforce. She married her sweetheart, Clarence Schmidt, on Jan. 16, 1949. She was born in Parker, S.D. on May 19, 1929 to Homer and Louise Doonan. Lillie graduated from Parker High School in 1947 before entering the workforce. She married her sweetheart, Clarence Schmidt, on Jan. 16, 1949. She and Clarence had four children: Gary, Brian, Ranee, and Kent. Clarence and Lillie lived and farmed west of Marion until moving to town in 1994, but continued farming operations. Lillie accepted Christ as her Savior at a young age and was a lifelong member of Bethesda Mennonite Church. She served on the food committee for many years and led Bethesda Youth Group with Clarence. She enjoyed singing in the choir, participating in Christ’s Co-workers and the fellowship of her church family. She was known for making wonderful homemade meals for hired men on the farm and visitors to their home. Lillie enjoyed spending time with family, loved doing fieldwork in the four-wheel tractor (her “4-wheelie”), reading, and visiting with friends. Surviving children include Brian (Kathy) Schmidt, Ranee Schmidt, and Kent (Sandy) Schmidt, all of Marion. Surviving grandchildren are Sara Schmidt of Sioux Falls, S.D., April (Mike) Flannery of Montrose, S.D., Jerad Poppens of Marion, Betsy (Josh) Mans of Harrisburg, S.D. and Ryan Schmidt of Marion. Her great-grandchildren include: Vanessa Larosier of Sioux Falls, Jayden and Brooklyn Flannery of Montrose, and Zoey and Jace Mans of Harrisburg. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence, son Gary, and sister Dorothy Mammenga.
