Pleasant Cemetery, Sioux Falls, SD Rev. Dr. Olaf Roynesdal, Officiating Lilly Marie Odland, daughter of Reverend L.J. and Christina (Wee) Odland, was born March 7, 1912 in Wallace, SD. She was baptized and confirmed by her father. Lilly moved with her family to Clark, SD and later to Woonsocket, SD, where she graduated from high school. She worked as secretary to Gladys Pyle in the South Dakota Secretary of State office in the early 1930's. Her father also officiated at the ceremony uniting Lilly in marriage with G. Arthur Norlin on June 14, 1936 at Grace Lutheran Church, Watertown, SD. She attended Augustana College, Sioux Falls, SD, where she was secretary to Dr. O.J.H. Preus. Lilly and her husband were among the founders of California Lutheran College, Thousand Oaks, CA. They served there from 1961 to 1967, when they moved to St. Paul, MN. Following her husband's death on May 3, 1969, she returned to Sioux Falls. Lilly was united in marriage with Joseph A. Kleinsasser on March 30, 1985 in Sioux Falls. He preceded her in death on July 24, 2001. Lilly attended East Side Lutheran Church for many years. She was also a church organist for many years and played at Luther Manor for over 20 years. In addition, she had been active in the Luther Manor Auxiliary, the Sioux Empire Gem and Mineral Club, the South Dakota Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association and the Augustana Fellows. Grateful for having shared her life are her son, Rev. Dr. Dennis Norlin and his wife, Sandra, Libertyville, IL; her daughter, Joyce Bumgardner and her husband, Larry, Plymouth, MN; six grandchildren; seven and one-third great-grandchildren; her brother, Victor Odland and his wife, Jane, Fountain Valley, CA; and a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Justus Odland, Ben Odland; and four sisters, Orva Grunhurd, Cora Wiederhold, Ruth Ley and Marvel Jaeger. Relatives and friends are invited to gather with the family for refreshments and fellowship at George Boom Funeral Home following the funeral service. The family requests that memorials be directed to the G. Arthur Norlin Memorial Fund at Luther Northwestern Theological Seminary, St. Paul, MN or the Alzheimer's Association- South Dakota Chapter.
