Description	:	Linda Dell McNeely, 74, passed away February 1, 2013, at her home in Mount Airy, Md. Born August 19, 1938, Linda was baptized into the Madison United Methodist Church, Madison, W.Va. Linda graduated from Vanderbilt University School of Nursing. Afterward, Linda joined the National Institutes of Health (NIH). A type 1 diabetic, Linda used the first diabetic pump in the U.S. After one year of successful use, Linda recommended that the pump be made available nationwide. Linda graduated from Vanderbilt University School of Nursing. Afterward, Linda joined the National Institutes of Health (NIH). A type 1 diabetic, Linda used the first diabetic pump in the U.S. After one year of successful use, Linda recommended that the pump be made available nationwide. Linda earned a master's degree in nursing from Johns Hopkins University, where she acquired expertise in hospital computer systems. She provided assistance to hospitals throughout the U.S. in designing their computer systems. A Standard Poodle breeder, Linda owned and operated Dell's Standards. Linda's own Standard Poodle, Jessie, won Best of Breed at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in Madison Square Garden, New York City. Linda belonged to the Washington, D.C., Poodle Club and the Greenspring (Baltimore, Md.) Poodle Club, serving as President of each of the clubs. Fond of sailing, Linda was a past member of the Deep Creek Lake Sailing Club and the Deep Creek Cross Country Ski Club. Mentored by her Aunt Sybil, Linda played the piano. While attending Scott High School, Linda played the bass saxophone in the Scott High School band. Linda was predeceased by her parents, Jessie Butcher McNeely and Virgil McNeely, and aunts, uncles and cousins. Survivors include her aunt, Irene Butcher of Washington, D.C., and some cousins. Dr. Frank Frye will lead a burial service at Boone Memorial Park, Madison, on Friday, March 22, at 11 a.m.
