Son of Robert Carlisle Crooks and Elizabeth Pence OBITUARY THE CHARITON HERALD-PATRIOT Chariton, Iowa Thursday, February 28, 1929 LINUS B. CROOKS Linus B. Crooks was born in Noble County, Ohio, March 23, 1864, and departed this life February 25, 1929, at the age of 64 years, 11 months and one day. When he was nine years old he came with his parents to Iowa, and this vicinity has been his continual home. He was united in marriage to Miss Lue Baker, October 18, 1899, and to this union one child was born who died in infancy. His wife died in 1902. In October, 1907, he was united in marriage to Miss Ann Thomas, who preceded him in death, January 25, 1926. To this union three children were born: Monroe, Arthur and Creola, who are now bereft of both a father and mother's loving care. He is also survived by three brothers: M. O., N. C. and J. L. Crooks, all of this vicinity, and two sisters: Mrs. Isabell McClain of Medora, Iowa; and Susan Crooks of Rapid City, S.D.; who was unable to attend the last sad rites. He also leaves many friends and neighbors to mourn. Shortly after his marriage he and his wife both joined the United Brethren church near Norwood. He was a good neighbor, and a devoted father who made many sacrifices for his family, and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Funeral services were held at the Latter Day Saints church on Tuesday afternoon, February 26, at two o'clock, conducted by Rev. A. V. Robbins of Norwood, after which interment was made in the Graceland cemetery near the church. Obituary courtesy of Charles M. Wright
