Funeral services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church, Yankton with the Rev Perry Wilson officiating. Burial will be at Garden of Memories, Yankton. Pallbearers are Richard Anderson, Loy Gravholt, Charles Tienken, Gene Alexander, Leonard Cimpl and Aldy Lowe. Visitation is today (Tuesday) from 1-9 p.m. at the Kostel Funeral Home, Yankton. Mr Aten was born Aug 15, 1910 to Leslie C and Ora (Salmon) Aten on the family farm near Ragan, Neb. He was a graduate of the Ragan Consolidated School, having earned state certification for teaching in rural schools. He later completed accounting and management courses relative to rural electric work. He married Cora M Sloan, Nov 23, 1935 in Kearney, Neb. He was employed by Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. until the depression period. He was then engaged in the construction field, primarily in telephone and electrical work. He then went to work for So. Crawford REA in Denison, Iowa in 1944 as a line superintendent. In 1950 he moved to Tabor S.D. as manager of Bon Homme-Yankton rural Electric Cooperative and he retire in 1976. At that time he moved to Yankton. He was a member of the National Rural Electric Management Committee and Chairman and committee member of several state REA associations. He was an active member of Ragan, Neb, Tyndall and Yankton United Methodist Churches serving in several areas of each. He was a very active promoter of Czech Days and officer of the Tabor Commercial Club. He was a director of United National Bank and was active in Bon Homme Co. Red Cross, serving as a certified first aid instructor. He was justice of the peace for 15 years, and was an officer and committee member of the Sioux Council, Boy Scouts of America in Sioux Fall, and was an active promoter and physical worker in the development of Lewis and Clark Scout Camp. He was a member of the Bon Homme flyers Club and was licensed small plane pilot. Lloyd was a member of Masonic Lodge No 101 in Tyndall, St John's Lodge No 1 in Yankton, Scottish Rite Oriental Consistory, Lewis and Clark Shrine Club, Order of Eastern Star, and he was a past board member of the Yankton Senior Citizens Center, Yankton County Historical Society, Bon Homme County and Lewis and Clark Playhouse. Lloyd is survived by his wife, Cora and two sons, Dennis of Charleston, Ill and Ronald of Abilene, Texas, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren, six sisters: Irene, Fremont, Neb-Marjorie, Union City, Calif-Shirley, Omaha, Neb -Betty, Elwood, Neb-Doris, Chicago, Ill and one brother, Wayne of Goodland, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and four brothers, Carl, Kenneth, Roy and Clyde.
