Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Church of Latter day Saints, 2902 Lucas St. in Muscatine, Iowa, conducted by Bishop Craig Thrap. Burial will be at the Tipton Cemetery in Tipton, Iowa. Friends may call at the Nichols Chapel Funeral Home in Muscatine, from 2 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, and one hour prior to service time at the church on Monday. Dickinson, 98, died Tuesday, Feb 7, 1995, at the home of his daughter, Laurel Jensen of Burley. Mr. Dickinson was born Aug. 18, 1896, in Tipton, Cedar County, Iowa, to Sheldon and Johannah Schilling Dickinson. He spent his entire life in Iowa, until the age of 97, when he moved to Idaho to live with his family. He attended school in Cedar County, graduating from Tipton High School in 1916 with a teaching certificate. He taught school at Lime City, Sandy Hook and Prairie Bell schools in Iowa. He also farmed at the same time and in 1922 went to farming full-time. He was township assessor for Sugar Creek and Rochester townships for 28 years. He worked on the farm program for many years. His marriage to Grace May Hain took place Dec. 23, 1921. The couple farmed at Burr Oak Grove Stock Farm until he retired from farming in 1966, and moved to Muscatine. There he was employed with Montgomery Ward and with the Muscatine Journal until he was 86 years old. He was a 75-year member of the Masonic Lodge in Rochester, Iowa, and a 70-year member of the Modern Woodmen of America. He joined the military during World War I, but the war ended before he saw active duty. He will be missed by all, for he was known for his wit, humor and wisdom. He was still learning until a few days before his death. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints.
