Description	:	Lloyd Ira Dawson was born to Edwin Dawson and Elizabeth Keil Dawson on January 1, 1912 at Fairmont, Fillmore County, Nebraska, and passed away on December 7, 1982 at Rochester, Minnesota, at the age of 70 years, 11 months and 7 days. He was one of seven children of the family. Lloyd was born and raised on the Dawson homestead, and attended the Fairmont Schools. He retired from farming in 1973. Read More	Lloyd Ira Dawson was born to Edwin Dawson and Elizabeth Keil Dawson on January 1, 1912 at Fairmont, Fillmore County, Nebraska, and passed away on December 7, 1982 at Rochester, Minnesota, at the age of 70 years, 11 months and 7 days. He was one of seven children of the family. Lloyd was born and raised on the Dawson homestead, and attended the Fairmont Schools. He retired from farming in 1973. Lloyd received in 1977, the Nebraska Pioneer Farm Award for 100 years in the family, Edward Dawson Homestead. Lloyd received honorary degree of the K,Y.C.H Knights Cross of Honor, in 1974, having been elected and served as Past Master of the Masonic Lodge No. 48, High Priest of the R.A.M., Past Illustrious Master of the Council and Past Commander of Knights Templar. He was very proud of this award with only 116 in the United States. Lloyd was married to Magdalene Moos of York on October 4th, 1933, and to them four children were born. He was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Dawson; father, Edwin Dawson; sisters, Eunice Due and Alice Podoyl. He is survived by his wife, Magdalene, of Fairmont; daughters, Valeria Martel of Minneapolis, Minn., Marilyn Linton of Dallas, Texas; sons Gary Dawson of St. Libory, Nebraska, Lloyd Dawson Jr. of Fairmont Nebraska; brother, Clarence Dawson of Exeter; sisters Ruth Sheriff of Las Vegas, Nev., Marjorie Tannahill of Gold Beach, Oregon, Ethyl Rasmussen of York and seven grandchildren. Other awards and offices that Lloyd held in the Masonic Lodges are as follows: Past Master in Fairmont Lodge No. 48 A.F./A.M. 1954 through 1969; Past Secretary Fairmont Lodge No. 48 A.F.A.M., 1970 through 1981; Past Illustrious Master Naomi of Cryptic of Nebraska-Geneva High Priest Solomon Chapter No. 33 Royal Arch Shrine; Past Commander Joppa Commandey No. 17 Knights Templar-York, Nebraska; Scostrio Temple Ancient Arabic Knobles Mystric Shrine, and Knight of York--Cross of Honor-Omaha, Nebraska 1974. Funeral services were conducted from the Fairmont Community Church on December 11, 1982 at 10 a.m., Saturday, with Rev. Bill Moore officiating. Mrs. Marvin Swartz accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Federal Bridgman who sang "Nearer My God to Thee" and "In the Garden;" and "Whispering Hope" as an organist solo. Masonic services by Fairmont Lodge No. 48. Active pallbearers were Jerry Gangsted, Howard Lefler, Richard Frazier, Larry Hilty, Gene Anderson, and Richard Arbuck. Honorary pallbearers were Duane Roper, Andy Anderson, John McBride, Hubert McClellan, Wendell Moul, Lewis B. Halsey, Walter Hasselman, Victor Jensen and Lewis E. McCreath.
