Mr. Martin was born February 21, 1912 in Marion County, the son of the late Henry Richard Martin and the late Freddie Ida Gasque Martin. Read More	WORLD WAR II Son of Henry Richard and Freddie Ida Gasque Martin, husband of Myrtle Ammons Martin. MULLINS - Mr. Lloyd Lannue Martin, 99, husband of Myrtle Ammons Martin, died Saturday, October 15, 2011 at his home after an illness. Mr. Martin was born February 21, 1912 in Marion County, the son of the late Henry Richard Martin and the late Freddie Ida Gasque Martin. He retired from the advertising department of Coca-Cola and was a retired farmer. Mr. Martin was a US Coast Guard veteran, having served during World War II. He loved fishing and was a longtime member of Blocker Lake. Mr. Martin was a faithful member of Ariel Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon, was the Sunday School Superintendent for 34 years and a member of the church choir. Surviving Mr. Martin in addition to his wife of the home are two step-children, Sylvia (Paul) Bullard of Marion and Joyce Floyd of Spartanburg; 8 step grandchildren; and 1 step great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. in the Ariel Baptist Church Sanctuary, with Rev. Richard Moretz officiating. Burial will follow in the Ariel Baptist Church Cemetery, directed by Cox-Collins Funeral Home. Published in the Morning News, October 17, 2011
