Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Shelton United Methodist Church. The Rev. John Ewton will officiate. Burial will be in the Shelton Cemetery. Loffer, 77, of Shelton died Monday, Aug. 12, 2002, at his home in Shelton. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Shelton United Methodist Church. The Rev. John Ewton will officiate. Mr. Loffer was born on Jan. 5, 1925, at Shelton to William and Annabell (Sober) Loffer. He grew up in Shelton and graduated from Shelton High School in 1942. He married Lorna Freel on March 30, 1946, at Smith Center, Kan. They lived in Shelton, where he worked for the Union Pacific Railroad and also farmed. In 1954, the couple moved to Plattsmouth, where he worked for Allied Chemical until his retirement in 1984. They then moved back to Shelton. He was a 50-year member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and a 30-year member of the Teamsters Union. He enjoyed yard work, gardening, reading, Nebraska football and his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife; three sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Audrey Loffer of Lincoln, Bill and Diana Loffer of Columbus, Ohio, and Brad and Kim Loffer of Bellevue; two daughters and a son-in-law, Kathy and Jim Hunter of Palmer and Jayn of Lincoln; 21 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ray; three sisters, Ruth Godfrey, Ethel Bowman and Opal Ripp; and two grandchildren.
