Description	:	MORGANVILLE-- Lloyd Robert Olson, 87, died Friday, March 22, 2013 at Clay County Medical Center, Clay Center. Mr. Olson was born June 15, 1925 in Clay County, the son of Emil and Hedvig (Carlson) Olson. Lloyd was raised on the family farm in the Morganville, Kan. area. He graduated from Morganville High School in 1943. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps after high school and was a ball turret gunner on a B17 during WWII. Read More	MORGANVILLE-- Lloyd Robert Olson, 87, died Friday, March 22, 2013 at Clay County Medical Center, Clay Center. Mr. Olson was born June 15, 1925 in Clay County, the son of Emil and Hedvig (Carlson) Olson. Lloyd was raised on the family farm in the Morganville, Kan. area. He graduated from Morganville High School in 1943. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps after high school and was a ball turret gunner on a B17 during WWII. He married Alta James on Aug. 5, 1951 and they farmed in the Morganville area all their lives. Alta survives of the home. He was a lifetime member of Swedesburg First Lutheran Church and was on the church cemetery board and he served on the Water District #1 Board. He was able to be a part of the WWII Honor Flight in 2009. He was preceded in death by a daughter Brenda Nelson and a brother Emmett Olson. Survivors include his wife, Alta Olson of Morganville; one son, Dan Olson and wife Nancy of Edmond, Okla.; two daughters, Becky Olson of Morganville and Jill Gibbs and husband Kenton of Arkansas City, Kan.; five grandchildren, Brandi, Brooke, Brittany, Alexis and Caleb; two great-grandchildren, Ella and Brogan; and two brothers, Leon Olson of Clay Center and Eugene Olson of Salina. A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 25 (today) at the Swedesburg First Lutheran Church, Clay County, with the Rev. Tom Sahl officiating. Burial will be in the Swedesburg First Lutheran Church, Clay County. Memorials may be made to: Honor Flight; Swedesburg First Lutheran Church; National Parkinson's Foundation.
