Description	:	Fred Miller Locy Freddie (Fred) Miller, the fourth child of Locy and Anna Miller, was born Oct. 23, 1914 at the family farm home 15 miles west of Imperial, Neb. He passed away Saturday, Nov. 24, 2001, at the Chase County Community Hospital. He had reached the age of 87 years, one month. Read More	Fred Miller Locy Freddie (Fred) Miller, the fourth child of Locy and Anna Miller, was born Oct. 23, 1914 at the family farm home 15 miles west of Imperial, Neb. He passed away Saturday, Nov. 24, 2001, at the Chase County Community Hospital. He had reached the age of 87 years, one month. Fred attended rural County School #4 and graduated from Chase County High School in 1932. Fred met Marvel Wheeler when she was teaching at the Chase School in rural Chase County. They were married in 1939 and lived on the family farm until 1988, when they moved to their present home in Imperial. Fred and Marvel moved to the Imperial Manor in March, 2001. Fred served the community on several boards during his lifetime, the latest one being the Chase County Historical Society—serving as president for several years. He enjoyed going to the Community Center to help make homemade noodles. Being the principal caregiver for Marvel since 1993, he became a very good cook. After moving to the Manor he continued this activity by being one of the main potato peelers. Woodworking was a hobby he developed after retirement. Every Christmas he made a wooden item for each of his children. Fred didn't stop there, but made sure all the grandchildren and great grandchildren each had something made by him. A person who continually placed highest value in Christianity, Fred accepted Christ as his personal Saviour as a youth. He was a member of the Chase Evangelical United Brethren Church until it closed in 1963. He then attended the Lamar Evangelical United Brethren Church (Trinity United Methodist Church) until its closure in 1999. Fred is survived by his wife Marvel, of the Imperial Manor; son Kent Miller and wife Nancy of Lamar; daughters Gloria Patrick and husband Ron of Grant; Ilene Wieder and husband Al of Littleton, Colo.; Kathy Cook and husband Dave of Lamar; 11 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one brother Wilfred Miller and wife Helen of Imperial; and sisters Clara Williams of Imperial; Inez Ball of Pleasant Hill, Ill.; Esther Harvey of Holyoke, Colo., also many nieces, nephews and lots of friends. Services for Fred were held Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2001, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Imperial, Neb. with Pastor Murray Schmechel officiating. Pianists were Mr. and Mrs. Don and Melody Newman and singers were Mr. Del Schuman and Mr. and Mrs. Irvin and Garneta Bauerle. Congregational hymn was Lily of the Valley. Casketbearers were Christene Kneubuhl, Dan Miller, Terri Miller, Miguel Patrick, Cristina Tovar, Trent Patrick, Rik Patrick, Lynne Wieder, Jenifer Wieder, Steffani Hughes, Bradley Cook and Rick Lovejoy. Honorary casketbearers were Amel Peterson, Myrl Cranwell, John Powers, Art Wittwer, Alvin Harmon, Robert Jaeger, Howard Surber and Olan Wallin.
