She was born in Seward on June 14, 1930, the daughter of Elmer and Gwendolyn Armstrong Schernikau. After graduating from Beaver Crossing High school, Lois married Max in 1948. Read More	Lois Arlene Schernikau Eberspacher 86, passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 in Seward, Nebraska after a heroic battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born in Seward on June 14, 1930, the daughter of Elmer and Gwendolyn Armstrong Schernikau. After graduating from Beaver Crossing High school, Lois married Max in 1948. They would have been married 68 years in June. During their membership at the United Methodist Salem Church, Lois made a decision for Christ during the Lay Witness Mission Program. As a farm wife, she filled many roles and excelled in all of them. Over the years, Lois was active in sewing, cooking, singing, baking wedding cakes and supporting the children in school , 4-H, and FFA programs. She even made time to serve on the election board. In June of 1966, she modeled a two-piece cranberry jacket dress which won her top honors in the $25,000 National Grange All-Cotton Sewing Contest. Lois defeated 55,000 women at the local and state levels to be named National Grand Award Winner. She won a vacation for two Bermuda, a new sewing machine and cabinet. Lois made precious scrapbooks, each grandchild received upon High School Graduation. The grandchildren treasure grandmom’s works of love. During the winter months spent in Arizona, she enjoyed playing cards pitch, pinochle, hearts, as well as board games like sequence and dominoes. She delighted in a winning hand and was very competitive. Music always played a important part of Lois’s life. She sang in the church choir and during the winter in Arizona. Lois enjoyed activities with the children, especially showing livestock in 4-H. One example of this is when Lois and Susan drove to Kansas City American Royal with a load of steers. Max and the boys would follow after the farm chores were completed. After the cattle were unloaded off the truck, Lois supervised converting the truck into sleeping quarters and a kitchen, then started cooking. It was hard work but great memories that year at American Royal. Lois was so happy when the boys won top honors with the cattle. She left us with so many wonderful memories and awesome recipes. She leaves behind: husband, Max Eberspacher; daughter, Susan Bailey; son, Val (Lori) Eberspacher; five grandchildren, Amanda (Mark) Hilbrands, Melody (Cody) Bass, Suzie Bailey, Sam Eberspacher, Maggie Eberspacher; one great grandchild, Kinslee Hilbrands; daughter-in-law, Ginger Eberspacher. She was preceded in death by: her parents; son, Jack Eberspacher; and her brother, Duane Schernikau. Funeral Service on Monday, May 2, 2016, at Salem Country Church, Goehner, Nebraska. Interment in Salem United Methodist Cemetery, rural Goehner. Obituary information from the Volzke Funeral Home.
