She was a sister of the late Mrs. Sarah Butts of Bedford. ___ Obituary of Lois Celinda Payton Moore Lois Celinda Payton, daughter of Jacob Harvey and Mary Jane Payton, was born in Henry County, Illinois, July 12, 1858. She passed away April 15, 1943 at her home on Pine Avenue, Southwest of Des Moines, Iowa at the age of 84 years, 9 months and 3 days. At the age of 15 years she moved with the family to Taylor County, Iowa, locating near Bedford. Mrs. Moore was united with the Methodist Church when a girl and lived a faithful Christan life to the end. She was united in marriage December 28, 1893 to Samuel Wells Moore who preceded her in death 19 years ago. To this union were born two children: Edna Gail Sorensen of Norwalk, Iowa and Helen Grace Herman of Des Moines, Iowa. Also three Grandchildren: Marjorie Elaine Chiles and Beverly Jean Sorensen of Norwalk, and Virginia Wanda Trent of Des Moines, Iowa. Mrs. Moore was a member of a family of nine children, five boys and four girls, one of whom survives her; Mrs. Elma Overstreet, of Kissimmee, Florida. Mrs. Moore lived a long and useful life but the last few years suffered a great deal but bore her suffering with the fortitude of a Christan and was uncomplaining through it all. She received many letters and cards from friends and relatives including the younger generation of her neighborhood, which she enjoyed through all her illness. She loved to have visitors and would visit when she felt able. She will leave many loved ones and friends that will morn her departure and miss her greatly. The funeral services were held Monday at 2 PM, April 19, 1943 at the Gallaway Funeral Parlor, at Norwalk, Iowa. Burial was at the Norwalk Cemetery.
