Description	:	Lois Christine Evans, formerly of Monterey, Iowa joined the love of her life Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at the Bloomfield Care Center, at the age of 98 years, 10 months and 28 days. Read More	Lois Christine Evans, formerly of Monterey, Iowa joined the love of her life Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at the Bloomfield Care Center, at the age of 98 years, 10 months and 28 days. She always said she was “shooting for 100.” She almost made it. Lois was born March 7, 1918 in Monterey, Iowa to Benjamin Abraham and Inez LaRue Henson Smith. Lois was the oldest of seven children with all others proceeding her in death. A lifetime resident of Davis County, she was a member of the Monterey Christian Church, and received her education through 8th grade at the local Jefferson country school, just across the hill from her house. She married Kyle Vernette Evans on December 10, 1940 in Macon, Missouri. To this union three children were born, Merrill Steven, Sandra Kay and Sharon Maria. Kyle served in the U.S. Army and Lois joined him when she could. They returned to Davis County spending most of their life there. Lois was always busy with cooking, sewing, ironing and gardening. She very much loved spending time with her family and friends. Lois loved her neighborhood and chatting the day away. Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Kay Foster of Bloomfield, Iowa, Sharon Maria (Randy) Leedom of Eddyville, Iowa; son Merrill Steven (Karen) Evans of Rose Hill, Iowa; four grandchildren, Mark Leedom, Rian (Carolyn) Leedom, Brenda (Bryon) Finneman, Robert (Stormy Jellis) Evans; five great-grandchildren, Kyla Evans, Levi Evans, Leland Evans, Shayna Walters, Jennah DeRonde; and three great-great-grandchildren, Jayley Mathis, Draven Nord and Kaesen Nord. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, Elza and Jay Smith; three sisters, Lillith Swartz, June Scharff, Donnabelle Smith; one step-brother, Wendell Smith; and a granddaughter, Robbin Evans. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January, 9, 2017 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Pastor Joe Dotterer officiating. Burial will be at the Burgher Cemetery in Davis County. Pallbearers will be Robert Evans, Levi Evans, Leland Evans, Kyla Evans, Mark Leedom, Rian Leedom, Shayna Walters, and Jennah DeRonde. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday with the family present to greet friends from 2-4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Apostolic Christian Church in Monterey, Iowa or Care Initiatives Hospice.
