Description	:	Lois Darlene Folkerts Deike, 83, of Waverly, Iowa, passed away on Friday, February 8, 2013, at the Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community, Waverly. Lois was born on July 17, 1929, in Kesley, Iowa, the daughter of Krene and Sarah (Harken) DeBerg. She graduated from Dumont High School. Then she attended the Iowa State Teachers College, and then taught five years in a rural school. She later substituted in the Greene School District. Lois was born on July 17, 1929, in Kesley, Iowa, the daughter of Krene and Sarah (Harken) DeBerg. She graduated from Dumont High School. Then she attended the Iowa State Teachers College, and then taught five years in a rural school. She later substituted in the Greene School District. Lois married Robert Folkerts on October 26, 1952 upon his return from the Army. They made their home on the family farm. Robert passed away on August 8, 1984. Lois remained on the farm until moving to Greene in 1990. She married Leonard Deike on April 5, 1991. They made their home in Waverly. He passed away on February 23, 2009. Lois was a Sunday School Superintendent at the Methodist Church in Bristow, Iowa for many years. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Bristow and also currently in Waverly. She was also a member of the Walk and Talk group in Waverly. She is survived by her two sons, Gary (Beverly) Folkerts of Clarksville, Iowa and Craig (Francene) Folkerts of Waverly, Iowa; three grandchildren, Zachary Folkerts of Shawnee, Kansas, Teah Folkerts of St. Louis, Missouri and Shane Folkerts of Waverly; a brother, Keith (Virginia) DeBerg of Osceola, Iowa; two step daughters, Vicky (Bernie) Bossom of Streator, Illinois and Nancy (Larry) Laursen of Ankeny, Iowa and a step-son, Steve (Dee) Deike of Hampton, Iowa; and seven step-grandchildren and ten step great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her two husbands, and her son, Douglas Robert Folkerts, in 1980. Funeral Services: February 19, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church in Waverly with Pastor Deborah Coble-Wise officiating. Burial: Oak Hill Cemetery, Bristow Visitation: Monday, February 18, 2013, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly Memorials: directed to Cedar Valley Hospice, Waverly In lieu of flowers
