Young will be on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Holdrege, Nebraska with Pastor Murray Jones officiating. Interment will follow at the Prairie Home Cemetery in Holdrege. Lois Elaine Young, went home to be with her Lord, July 2, 2016, one day before her 88th birthday, at Christian Homes Care Community in Holdrege. Lois Elaine Young, went home to be with her Lord, July 2, 2016, one day before her 88th birthday, at Christian Homes Care Community in Holdrege. She was born July 3, 1928, the eldest child to Harry and Mabel (LJ Johnson) Young, on the family farm home near Loomis. She graduated from Loomis High School in 1946, as Valedictorian. She had the honor of being the first president of the Loomis School Y-Teens organization. Following graduation, she worked at the Loomis Egg Coop and later worked at the Anderson-Peterson Public Accountants in Holdrege. She began a career in Government work with the Phelps County ASCS office and was recognized with 20 years of service with the Farmers Home Administration in 1980. Lois served 4 terms as, the Phelps County Clerk for 16 years. As County Clerk, she was appointed a position on the 10th Judicial Court Nominating Committee for several years. She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Free Church, where she served with White Cross. Lois was proud to serve as the County Chairman of the Phelps County Red Cross and Cancer Fund drives, as well as the treasurer of these organizations. She was an active member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club, serving on local, district and state levels. Lois enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Europe. Although Lois never had a family of her own, she maintained a close relationship with her nieces and nephews, and their children. She is survived by her sister, Harriet Isaacson and her husband, Lee of Holdrege; several nephews and nieces: Mike and Connie Isaacson of Lincoln, Nebraska, Bob and Rona Isaacson of Holdrege, Jim and Janice Isaacson of Holdrege, Julie and Mark Lind of Holdrege, Angie and Dave Chally of Kearney and Ryan Isaacson of Holdrege; 18 great nephews and nieces; and 11 great great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Phyllis Young at the age of three years; and two infant brothers. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. with a Time of Sharing at 6:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege. A memorial has been established in Lois’ honor and kindly suggested to the Nebraska Prairie Museum, Trinity Evangelical Free Church or Christian Homes Care Community.
