Interment was in Brooklyn Memorial Cemetery. Lois Irene Lockard Gerard was born June 22, 1915, on a farm in Mahaska County near New Sharon, Iowa. Her parents were Samuel A. Lockard and Platonia A. Allgood Lockard. Lois received her education in a rural school. On March 15, 1938, Lois was married to Paul B. Gerard in Oskaloosa, Iowa. They were the parents of one son, Roger. On October 15, 1945, Paul and Lois, and his brother, Eldon, bought the feed store in Brooklyn. Lois helped with the feed store and later became a cook for BGM Schools where she worked until she retired. Mrs. Gerard became a resident of Community Estates fall of 2003. Her husband Paul died January 16, 2005. Mrs. Gerard was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church and the South Side Circle. Lois enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, doing crossword puzzles, crocheting, visiting with neighbors and was an avid Cub fan. Her parents, her husband, four brothers, Clyde, Cleo, Ralph and Homer, and three sisters, Artie, Ethel, and Vida preceded her in death. Lois is survived by a son Roger and wife, Joan of Brooklyn; two grandchildren, Joshua and wife Tracey of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Charity Wilkerson and husband, Bill of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
